    Another Altec DIY Crossover Thread

    Hi folks,

Just want to share this in case a member is contemplating on building his own...

Altec DIY N1201-8A at 1200 Hz. Provision for converting to Zilch Z19 by switching cables in sections are incorporated to the layout (plus the additional outboard 4 uF)

Altec DIY N501-8A at 500 hZ.

Thanks to all the members(Altec Best, GM, Zilch, DNV47, Alex d15z6, Earl K, etc.) for the help that I received through my continous inquiries here for the last few weeks! Greatly appreciated!

So far, the 500 Hz XO rules as I had been using it for several weeks now, but I need to find the correct setting of the pots for the 1201 and will report back. Breadboard the XO with polyprop caps but decided to use oil caps for the final assembly since the synergy of my SET amps to oil caps sounds great to me.

    Altec Best, Zilch,

Yes, I am using this with a so and so Altec 19 clone. System is 416-8B, 802D, 612C cabs, and switchable 811/511 horns using tip of the horn/baffle mount of the LF driver acoustical alignment( about 2 1/2 " from edge of the top of the cabinet) from Altec Lansing Application Notes AN-9.

    Thanks again.

I'm out of the loop on 802D, other than having loaded one of indeterminant provenance with an aftermarket Radian diaphram and not getting a good result. M19 wants 802-8G or 902, in my limited experience....

    Hi Zilch,

I will try the 902 or the 802-8G when funds permit. Happy Thanksgiving!
